L'Auberge espagnole

Our citytravelreview projects have traditionally often been described as having a Erasmus style feel. For a great movie featuring the sites and feel of Barcelona check out The Spanish apartment (L'Auberge espagnole)

A film by Cédric Klapisch which was released during the year 2002. The title of the movie refers to a French phrase: an "auberge espagnole" which is a messy place.

Xavier is a Parisian graduate who applies to the Erasmus exchange program, and ends up in Barcelona. With no place to go, he crashes on the sofa of a couple he met in the plane, he eventually finds an apartment, which is a cramped and messy flat shared by a bunch of foreign students.

Each of them comes from a different country — Wendy is British, Isabelle is Belgian, Lars is Danish, Alessandro Italian, Soledad is Spanish and Tobias is German—making the apartment a microcosm of the European Union.
